Newborn Screening Services
Most babies are healthy and will not have any of the conditions the newborn screening tests are looking for. However, the benefits of screening are be enormous for those babies who do have health problem.
Here at Parami General Hospital, every baby is offered a thorough physical examination soon after birth.
When a baby is 5 days old, we will perform baby’s heel prick collection to check the followings tests.

This examination is carried out within 72 hours of birth and then again at 6 to 8 weeks of age, as some conditions can take a while to develop.
